Chrissy Metz joins Bank of Dave: The Sequel
Updated: Feb 27
Chrissy Metz joins the cast of BANK OF DAVE: THE SEQUEL. Metz will play Jessica, a brilliant, workaholic, investigative journalist specializing in the financial sector. Her ability to immerse herself in a story to the exclusion of anything or anyone else has wreaked havoc on her personal life, leaving her isolated and lonely. Her life in New York revolves, exclusively, around her apartment and her office… so it’s with a degree of reluctance that she travels to Burnley, in the heart of England, in order to write a story about the victims of payday lenders. There she finds a warm and surprisingly welcoming community. BANK OF DAVE: THE SEQUEL is based on a true-ish story - two years after founding Britain’s very first community bank, Dave Fishwick takes on an even more dangerous and formidable opponent than the big banks – Payday Loan Companies. Dave recruits Jessica, an American investigative reporter, and Oliver, a local Citizen’s Advice counsellor, to his cause. Together they embark on a journey that will eventually take them to the United States and help bring down an entire industry of predatory corporations.
BANK OF DAVE: THE SEQUEL is directed by Chris Foggin (Bank of Dave, Fisherman’s Friends) and stars the same team from Bank of Dave, including Rory Kinnear and Jo Hartley (more cast to be announced soon). The screenplay is by Piers Ashworth (St. Trinian’s, Save the Cinema). It is a Tempo Production with Future Artists Entertainment in association with Ingenious Media and Automatic, produced by Piers Tempest (Upgraded, Emily); executive produced by Peter Touche, Jo Bamford, Dave Fishwick, Katie Lander, Matt Williams, Karl Hall, Michael Reutner, and Piers Ashworth. Netflix holds the rights in the UK & Ireland and WME Independent represents the film for sales.
Director Chris Foggin says, "I am so excited to be working with Chrissy. Her warmth and kindness is infectious and I can’t wait to work with her."Production started yesterday, Sunday 25th February, in Burnley and the film will be shot across the North of England, including Huddersfield, York and Leeds, throughout March.Metz played Kate Pearson in the hit NBC drama series from 2016 to 2022, which earned her nominations for a Primetime Emmy Award and two Golden Globe Awards. Her other credits include American Horror Story: Freak Show, My Name is Earl, and Superstore.
